About the Role

We are seeking a mechanically biased Associate or Associate Director to join a dynamic M&E team within a leading multidisciplinary consultancy. With headquarters in Leeds’ thriving business community, the firm offers services in mechanical and electrical design, civil and structural engineering, acoustics, planning, and project management.

This role involves leading building services engineering projects across sectors such as defence, commercial, retail, healthcare, education, and leisure for both public and private clients. You will oversee engineering design delivery, project management, and team performance, ensuring the successful execution of projects and fostering client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver building services engineering solutions with a focus on quality and compliance.
  • Oversee the technical and commercial aspects of projects from concept to completion.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, reviewing work and ensuring excellence.
  • Prepare cost estimates, manage budgets, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring project briefs and programmes are met.
  • Contribute to business development through bids, interviews, and tender submissions.
  • Design solutions that align with sustainability goals, including zero and low-carbon initiatives.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Degree in mechanical engineering, building services engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Accreditation: Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Experience: Demonstrated success in managing building services projects across diverse sectors.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering and low-carbon design.
    • Familiarity with electrical engineering, public health, and sustainability principles.
    • Proficiency with IES software for energy modelling, Revit, and Navisworks (MagiCAD knowledge is advantageous).
  • Leadership: Strong ability to lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective client management.
  • Additional Requirements: Eligibility for security clearance to MOD “SC” level.
